Makana (aka Mara) Ashelman, has always been fascinated with lifestyles centering around natural beauty and elegant simplicity. In addition to working with her husband to find and create homes for people in Texas and West Virginia, she has been a journalist and feature writer, worked on Capitol Hill, been vice president of an advertising agency, and conducted success seminars for teens. With a team of friends, she is presently working on an “Innovation Village” in Morgan County to preserve precious farmland and wild areas, while creating clustered housing and amenities for those who want to live a life of 'simple elegance.' |
The Ashelmans moved to Morgan County from the Washington, D.C. area in the 70’s. They left to work on projects in Austin, Texas and Hawaii, and returned to West Virginia in 1992. Together they have 4 children and 3 grandchildren. |
